The 83-year-old actor, famed for his role as Del Boy in BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses, revealed in August he was due to undergo a hip operation and had to postpone the convention until January.

Sir David broke cover for the first time today (Sunday, November 5) to update fans on his condition.

Posting via the account Only Fools and Horses News on X, formerly Twitter, he is seen walking with crutches to the Rocky theme tune before defiantly dropping them and walking off.

Meanwhile one wished for a reunion of the classic sitcom: “Wouldn’t it be fabulous if we could get squeeze Just one more Xmas special from them all. Luvly jubbly.”

Back in August, Sir David updated fans on Facebook about the decision to cancel the convention.

He wrote: “I am so very sorry for the disappointment and all the inconvenience it may cause but we are having to change the date of the forthcoming Only Fools and Horses Convention.

“Unfortunately I have just been advised I need a new bionic body part fitted. I won’t tell you which part it is, or you will all want one!

“And don’t worry it’s not being supplied by Monkey Harris, it’ll be the pukka gear.”
