Bradley Walsh was left stunned as a contestant on The Chase achieved a record-breaking solo win.

During Thursday’s instalment, four hopefuls faced Chaser Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis, 43, in the hopes of bagging themselves a tidy sum.

Presenter Bradley, 62, hosted the four quizzers, Gemma, Elizabeth, Sydney and Eden, who worked together to win some money – at first.

But 20-year-old Eden ended up going into the Final Chase alone, after his three teammates were caught by The Chaser in the first three rounds.

The young man went for the highest option of £75,000 offered by Darragh and shocked Bradley as he stormed through the intense challenge, giving 15 correct answers and subsequently walking away with the huge cash prize.

As the clock timed out, Eden beat the Chaser with his solo effort, bagging himself a record-breaking amount.

‘Time is up!’ yelled Bradley, before flinging his arms up in the air and running over to hug him.

The host admitted to the shocked contestant: ‘I can’t believe it! 75 grand!’ to which Eden confessed in a fairly nonchalant manner: ‘It’s not bad, is it?”

Bradley repeated: ’75 grand… 20 years of age! Who’s your best mate?’ and then told him: ‘That is the highest ever single win in TV quiz show history!’

It comes after viewers of The Chase were left baffled following a recent instalment, as a contestant revealed his strange career choice.

The ITV gameshow, welcomed players Rebecca, Lee and Lana and Bill as they hoped to beat the chaser and walk home with some money.

But keen viewers were perplexed by Bill after he declared that he was a ‘retired people person’ in his introduction.

Fans immediately took to Twitter to try and figure out what that meant with some left completely confused.
