‘From Only Fools and Horses’ David Jason to Call the Midwife’s Leonie Elliott – here’s who I’d love to see in EastEnders’ newest family’
Imagine these BBC legends setting foot in Walford!
CBBC star Molly Rainford is the latest actress rumored to be joining EastEnders.
The Strictly Come Dancing star, 22, is reportedly taking up the role of a daughter in a new family moving to Walford to take over the Queen Vic later this year, as Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) puts the boozer on sale.
The news of her potential arrival comes after Danny Dyer’s exit as Mick Carter at Christmas. Actress Danielle Harold will be bowing out of the show as her character Lola Pearce will meet a tragic end, and Ash Panesar star Gurlaine Kaur Garcha is also set to wave goodbye to Walford very soon.
So there’s room for a new family to move into Albert Square bringing a fresh load of drama.
With that said, here is a list of iconic TV stars who I would love to see appear on EastEnders as a new family alongside Molly Rainford, consisting of a father, his eldest daughter (Molly is the younger one), son-in-law, and estranged ‘rogue’ grandson.
Not your conventional family unit but it’s the year 2023, not 1902, and the mystery behind this lot may bring some scandal to light, so meet Walford’s latest made-up family. Remember, this is an opinion folks, and no actor mentioned is thought to be joining the BBC One soap. At least, not yet.
Sir David Jason
Sir David Jason has remained one of my favourite actors since I can remember after watching him play Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses for donkey’s years.The 83-year-old has a rare way of radiating charm through the television without even saying a word, and when he does speak – he can be seriously funny or gripping depending on what kind of role he’s playing.
It would be great to see him arrive in Walford as the head of a new family with a Cockney accent and expensive style to head up The Queen Vic, a real East-End bloke who had kids later in life with a no-nonsense attitude but a heart of gold. Jason would be the perfect man for the job.
Leonie Elliott
Not only is Leonie stunning but, boy, can she act!
The 34-year-old Londoner is famed for playing Nurse Lucille Anderson on Call the Midwife but has recently confirmed she’s left the BBC period drama (sob!).
She would make a great daughter to David Jason’s character, and an on-screen sister to Molly Rainford. She would add a bit of glamour to the Square that would get right up the nose of Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace).
James Norton
Despite playing an absolute psychopath on BBC’s Happy Valley, viewers seemed to fall in love with James Norton.
The 37-year-old originally from Lambeth would make a fine on-screen husband to Leonie’s character. They would basically be Walford’s answer to Posh and Becks.
Finn Cole
Finn Cole played heartthrob Michael Gray in BBC’s Peaky Blinders, and we need him back on our TV screen at once.
The 27-year-old from Kingston is the perfect fit to play a mischievous grandson to rival Walford’s Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters).
He definitely wouldn’t take any bad vibes from the Panesar or Mitchells. So with Molly Rainford, David Jason, Leonie Elliott, James Norton, and Finn Cole – that’s my fabricated new family of five that would be perfect in Albert Square.
