Hartley LLoyd Pack has created a short film about looking after children and care leavers from Hackney

Roger Lloyd Pack’s son has followed in the late actor’s footsteps to become involved in the film industry with a musical about East London.

Raw God the Musical is seven and a half minute movie that features people who look after children in Hackney. It was created by Hartley Lloyd Pack after he was ‘inspired’ and dedicated to working on the project over several years.

Sharing artwork from the short film, which was released last year, Hartley wrote on Instagram: “I’ve been working on this for years, inspired by the stories and the courage of looking after children and care leavers from Hackney.”

He added: “Love to everyone for making this happen, above all the Hackney team.” According to his LinkedIn, Hartley also works at Hackney Virtual School for Children in Care along with being a lyricist and writer.

However, Raw God the Musical isn’t the first time Hartley has used his artistic talents to create a meaningful project. He once collaborated with his poet mother, Jehane Markham, to make an album of songs in honour of Roger and his life, called Sixteen Sunsets.

It describes a different side of the actor who played one of British television’s most iconic characters. The songs also celebrate parts of Roger’s personality that were known, but not by the mainstream. Roger Lloyd Pack died aged 69 on January, 15 2014, surrounded by his family following pancreatic cancer.

Best known for his TV work, including his popular character Trigger in the late John Sullivan’s long-running BBC One sitcom Only Fools and Horses and Owen Newitt in The Vicar of Dibley.

He was also a celebrated stage actor who loved Shakespeare.
