Only Fools and Horses: Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo enjoys classic British sitcom
The former soap star has reflected on her first date with the world's best footballer
Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo once watched Only Fools and Horses – and seemed to enjoy it, claims former Hollyoaks actress and Cristiano’s ex, Gemma Atkinson. The unlikely couple dated very briefly in 2007 before going their separate ways.
Gemma recently broke her silence on what it’s really like to date the Manchester United ace. Despite all Ronaldo’s riches the pair’s first date was very laid back as they opted for a night in watching the Trotters on TV rather than a glitzy evening out, reports The Mirror.
Speaking to Manchester’s Key 103 radio, she recalled one time when the loved-up pair went to her house to drink cups of tea and watch Only Fools And Horses. “Genuinely!” she laughed, “I don’t know if he’s into it now but he seemed to enjoy it.”
“It was really glamorous,” she summarised sarcastically. The soap star said that she turned down huge fees for telling all about her relationship with the sports star, who has an estimated net worth of more than £350 million and boasts some 460 million followers on Instagram.
“When we did split up, I got offered so much money to speak about him. And I didn’t want that,” she said. Gemma is now settled down with Strictly Come Dancing Gorka Marquez and share a daughter Mia. Gorka popped the question on Valentine’s Day last year, but the happy couple were forced to postpone the wedding due to strict Covid rules in Spain, where Gorka’s family live.
